Experience

I taught Italian at OSU for two years while working on my degree, and another year at Miami University as a "Visiting Instructor" (adjunct professor.) In addition to my three years of college level teaching experience, I have also worked as a free-lance tutor and I have lead a two month study abroad trip in Italy for The Ohio State University. I have studied Italian at a number of institutions in the United States and in Italy, including the University of Cincinnati, The Ohio State University, La Scuola per Stranieri di Lecce, La Società Dante Alighieri di Palermo, and the presigious Università per Stranieri di Siena. I have also spent a great deal of time traveling and living in Italy, improving my fluency and understanding of the people and culture. My teaching method has been heavily influenced by the "communicative" approach, which seeks to shift the focus of the learning process from the instructor to the students, and emphasizes personal discovery, interaction, and creative communication instead of grammar drills and repetition.
