25+ years tutoring ESOL Tutoring I am a tutor because I feel that literacy is one of the most important gifts you can give to someone. I have always loved to learn and continue to do so. I have taken 14 online classes since my retirement in January 2015 and plan to continue as long as possible. I consider every class relevant, however, to fit the needs of future students, I would say that the writing courses, science and math classes I am taking online meet that criteria. As a writer, some of the classes I take are for research for my next book. It will be my first adult novel. My 4 published books thus far have been for children.

Hobbies
Since retiring, I have been able to pursue some of my childhood or teen interests that have been on the back burner for many years. My top interest is writing. I hope to have 2 books written every year. My latest one is Detective Max: Guinea Pig Extraordinaire. I also write music with a friend and am starting an educational website for children, parents, and teachers. Other interests include drawing, painting, playing piano, attempting to play violin (not too good so far, but I won't give up as long as my neighbors don't complain), creating toys like doll furniture and robots from recycled materials (trash). Twice a month, I do story times for a local day care center. Also, I belong to 2 library book clubs. I also teach beginning piano to my friends' granddaughter. Last but not least: I hope to be teaching a dance/aerobic class this January for my neighbors.
