Education

I went to Mount Holyoke College, a prestigious private school in Massachusetts. I got my double Bachelors degree in Biology and Italian Language and Literature. I also did premed courses alongside my majors. I graduated with a cool 3.7 GPA.

Experience

I worked abroad in Italy for 2 years for its most important research organization, Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM). The company works exclusively on financing and executing research to help find cures to rare genetic diseases, which leave many children with a scary fate. I managed a research project in collaboration with Shire and helped gather funds. I also was assigned Webmaster and built a new website along with the Informatics department. I have much previous tutoring and linguistics experience: 1) Tutored 6-8th graders for the Summerbridge Program when in High School. Subjects included writing, reading and math. 2) Tutored beginner and intermediate Italian students at Mount Holyoke College. Hired by the Italian department when I was a junior and tutored lower level students. 3) Tutored and mentored a Chinese high school student going to a private school in the Cincinnati area. Helped him with organization skills, daily planning and exam preparation. Assisted him daily with his homework by explaining and teaching him the subject material. Subjects included Spanish, English, physics and American History. 4) Mentored an Italian orthodontist in Naples, Italy in the process of writing a book volume on the Lip Bumper. Translated over 50 pages of technical text and over 100 figures from Italian to English. 5) Taught English at the research company, TIGEM, I worked at in Italy. Created and organized an English class, open to the entire 200+ employee company. Made weekly tests to gauge progress.

Hobbies

I love learning about new cultures and being open to others - bringing out the good in people. I want to share my experiences and knowledge. I love to travel and cook and go for walks. I grew up in a single parent home and went to private school my whole life. It was hard- my mother was often absent and I had a lot of adult responsibility from a young age. Travelling has helped me to learn about myself and how I can present myself better to the world. It has also helped me to understand my tough childhood and address insecurities related to it. As a result I am very conscious of others and their needs.
