Education
I graduated in May of 2010 from Miami University (OH) with a B.A. in International Studies, a minor in Naval Science, and a thematic sequence in psychology. I am currently a graduate student at American Military University pursuing an M.A. in Intelligence Studies.
Experience
When I was in 8th grade I started tutoring 1st-5th graders. Once I was in high school I began tutoring fellow high school students as well. Once I began college I was involved in so many things that I simply did not have the time. I love being able to help a student really comprehend a subject that they struggle with. It's not just about passing the next test or finishing a paper, it's about making them realize that they are smart enough to understand the material and that nothing is beyond their ability. I am also a Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol, which has given me some wonderful opportunities to work with cadets (generally ages 12-18). I have found that so many of them have a drive to excel, but sometimes need a little extra assistance and guidance. I feel that through tutoring I can provide this help in the academic field and allow students to feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment when they realize that they really CAN do it.
