Experience
I have always loved writing and reading, and I always looked forward to my weekly trips to the library. I started writing my own stories as a sixth-grader. When it was time for college, I studied English education at Bowling Green State University, where I was able to refine my passions for literature and writing. I also gained tutoring experience as an undergraduate by working at the writing center on campus helping students put together essays and improve their writing skills. While I was usually helping college freshmen with essays, I occasionally had the chance to assist ESL students with grammar or help graduate students with research papers. For the past nine years, I've been teaching language arts at the high school and middle school levels. I like to figure out the strengths that each student has and then help them build on top of those to improve their understanding and skills in other areas. I'm currently attending Northern Kentucky University as well to earn my graduate degree in English, concentrating on composition and rhetoric. With this degree I will be able to teach composition at the college level.
