I am a graduate of Duke University, Magna Cum Laude, B.A., Psychology, with emphasis on music, literature, creative writing, and mathematics, 1976. Law Degree obtained 1983 from the University of Cincinnati.

Experience

I have tutored for decades, and I taught dance for 15 years. I was a high scorer on the SAT. I enjoy tutoring very much, all levels, all aptitudes. I take a great deal of pride and satisfaction in helping students learn their material and achieve their goals.

Hobbies

I am creative by nature. I love to write, especially fiction. I have been a competitive ballroom and latin dancer, and I owned and operated a ballroom and latin dance school for 22 years. I taught thousands of students, mostly adults but many teenagers, how to dance. I created my own ballgowns, and I have great visual skills. I think my chief skill is being able to take a problem, break it down into its component parts, and solve the problem bit by bit. I love building confidence along with skills. I am currently tutoring a gifted high schooler who is being homeschooled. We are developing her writing skills. I absolutely love teaching. I want to see people (any age -- from young child to grown adult) learn and grow. To my mind, teaching someone just because the person needs to learn it is sometimes necessary but never much fun. I vastly prefer creating an interest or at least a healthy respect for the material, and learning how to solve the problems associated with that material, so the student develops problem-solving skills. This leads to great confidence for the student, and at the end of the day, seeing a smile that comes from mastering something new is the greatest result I can achieve.
