My teaching/tutoring philosophy overall the subjects (and especially including my specialty in Flute and Piccolo) is to teach with humor and encouragement, and build underlying understanding by addressing student concerns, and REALLY going the extra mile to explain fully. I will never ask a student to complete a task (and there are lots of "silly" tasks especially with playing instruments) until they understand why I'm asking this of them, and what the benefits will be. I believe that part of a tutor's job is to build self-confidence, so that when you leave me at the end of our time, you feel like you've conquered something, and confident in your ability to face the problems address in that day's session.
