As a high school student and during my early college years, I worked as a reading and math tutor for elementary age students. I also worked as a reading tutor/literacy coach for the Ohio Reads Program. At my former job, I was in charge of coordinating tutoring services for students, grade 3-8. I also was the Academic Director of the Saturday tutoring program at Riverside Academy (2011-2014), a program that was designed specifically for remediation and to bridge learning gaps, in both reading and mathematics, as well as increase student achievement on the Ohio state standardized tests. I taught 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade mathematics, as well as 6th, 7th, and 8th grade language arts.

I LOVE TO WORK WITH YOUNG PEOPLE! When I am not working with the young people in my own family, I spend my spare time mentoring and working with young people in the community. I am extremely passionate about having a positive impact on the lives of young people. I love to read, write, dance, sing, cook, shop, travel, and spend time with my family! I love animals, especially dogs, and I am an enormous sports fan. I also love to have fun; and while I do recognize that not every moment in life is meant to be funny, I enjoy laughing, playing games, and having a good time! I don't just like working with young people, I like to see them be successful in their tasks and endeavors. As a classroom teacher, I made sure to create as many opportunities as possible for my students to be successful because when students do well, they gain confidence and feel good about themselves, both of which are factors that contribute to a meaningful learning experience. I love results; it's important for both parents and students to see progress, but I believe that it's also important for learning to be enjoyable!
