I am an experienced, qualified world language teacher who loves opening the door of language learning to all students! I teach Spanish and German at a public high school in the Cincinnati, OH area. I have thirteen years experience teaching both languages to students of all ability levels, ages 13-19. I regularly work one-on-one with my students after school, and worked part time at a tutoring center for about a year between graduating college and starting my teaching job. I am looking to take on a handful of outside students to tutor this school year and currently have a few spots available. I regularly travel to Spanish speaking countries to keep current with my language skills, and now that I am teaching German again, I plan to travel to Austria in summer 2016. I completed the National Board Certification process in 2011, which is the most intense professional development I have ever done... It was incredibly difficult, but absolutely paid off because it made me a better teacher. I enjoy tutoring so that I can get to know more than just the students at my high school, and to earn some extra money to further my own language education - through coursework and language travel. I love education and see it as my life's calling! There is nothing better to me than that moment when a difficult concept clicks for a student. I recognize how busy everyone's lives are... sports and music practices, homework, family events, etc. My life is pretty hectic, too! Therefore I tutor via SKYPE rather than meet in person.

Hobbies
I am a huge fan of travel, be it long weekends in nearby places, exploring new places further afield in the USA, or international adventures. In addition to travel, I enjoy music of all kinds and study piano... I am 35 years old and still have the same piano teacher I have had since I was in high school - he is 92 years old and still kicking! I also live near downtown and like to take advantage of all our community has to offer - my spouse and I try to make it to as many of the concerts, festivals, and Reds games as we can! I pride myself on taking the time to connect with all my students in my classroom, and all those I tutor. I look forward to meeting with you via Skype and working with you to advance your Spanish/German goals!
