Experience
I have always loved to teach, as a medical student in Nigeria, the department of anatomy introduced us to the problem based approach of learning anatomy, and employed us to use the approach in physiology as well. During one of our focused group discussion in Anatomy was when the love for teaching struck me; I would gather a group of my colleagues who had difficulty understanding a particular region of the body or organ system, using knowledge borrowed from other courses to simplify the lesson. I wrote up easy to read and understand materials, which circulated among my classmates and junior colleagues till date, which earned me the nickname "Ishau material". Teaching for me is a better way to integrate and understand topics, also, there's fulfillment that comes with knowing that my knowledge in a particular area is being shared. Above all, helping others is a passion of mine, which probably explained why I chose to become a medical doctor over an engineer. A sound knowledge of structures and their corresponding functions is one reason that I know would make me a better tutor. Also, understanding how the body works, and having had the experience to see it in a malfunctioning state, helps me better appreciate the understanding of the its original state. My passion for teaching is majorly to help my students achieve their best, as well as serve as an inspiration to students, not only academically, but personally. The most important thing I've learned from tutoring is that energy, empathy, and character make a great teacher, far above and beyond mastery of the topics and skills that need teaching. I think of myself as a guide or coach, helping my students acquire relevant information about the structure and function of the human body, and explaining how solve problems (clinical), using basic knowledge of the human body. I love science, and I enjoy helping others understand the world we live in. My education and work experience as a medical doctor helps me to share relevant examples with students on how to solve problems and think critically. I encourage anyone who is looking for a tutor to reach out to me. I am a man who has seen it all (both cadaveric and real life). I am here to help YOU, so I am extremely patient and my tutoring sessions are designed to fit my students' individual needs. Contact me and schedule your classes.
