Education

Experience

As a PhD student in theology, I read very difficult material and I write LOTS and LOTS of papers. My studies require me to analyze difficult passages and place them within the context of the whole work (whether that is a scholarly article or an entire book) and to relate those passages and works to my own concepts and my own writing. With so much experience writing, my grammar, punctuation, and composition skills are excellent, as is my ability to clearly, concisely, and poignantly express opinions and complex concepts. My undergraduate program, my master’s degree in theology from Loyola University in New Orleans, my veterinary degree and veterinary career, and my theology studies have given me the opportunity to read and write works in various genres including creative writing pieces, personal reflection papers, scientific reports, opinions, theses, and detailed research papers. I have published many letters to the editor on various topics in several newspapers. My wide variety of experience has also required me to acquire a wide vocabulary of theological, literary, and scientific words and phrases. I have tutored students one-on-one and I have experience teaching undergraduate college courses. I have edited the work of doctoral colleagues and undergraduate college students including native English speakers and those for whom English is a second language. Most importantly, I am passionate about the English language and I love helping people with their reading and writing!

Hobbies

My passion in life is animals! Currently I have a dog and a cat but I have had as many as two cats, two dogs, and a rabbit at one time! There is a special place in my heart for outcast animals and I have cared for many injured and disabled animals as a veterinarian and on my own. I have a great love for all creatures and I love to be outdoors to be able to appreciate the beauty of all wild animals! It is important to know and to try to understand current events. We are all connected in both a literal sense and a spiritual sense. The events happening in our communities, on the national level, and around the world affect our everyday lives and should relate to how we live our lives. Moreover, we are all connected as humans and creatures on this planet and I believe we should all be concerned about the well-being of all people and the earth. To this end, I try to stay current on local, national, and world news by reading the newspaper and listening to the news, most often the BBC news and various news programs on NPR. I also love sports and played volleyball and softball in high school. I like to watch all kinds of sports from baseball and football to volleyball, swimming, tennis, and gymnastics. I am a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan!
